The Tiger Fort in 1734 Raja Sawai Jai Singh II decided that this was the precise spot on which he wanted to build a new fort. According to legend, the ghost of Nahar Singh would not let the fort to be built: whatever walls were erected by day came crumbling down by night.

Finally tantricrites were performed to appease the agitated ghost, and the fort, once completed ramparts and arches make it a superb example of Rajput military architecture. Over by the edge of the precipice is Hazari Burj an artillery emplacement ideally positioned for the Kachhawah Quns to decimate any would be attackers on the killing fields far below.
