The
Rajasthan Hotel Corporation (RHC) and Rajasthan Tourism Development
Corporation (RTDC), both public sector undertakings of the Rajasthan
government, will soon be merged in one body.
The
government believes that the two corporation be merged for better
prospects. Thus, it has appointed a joint chairman for both the
corporations, for the first time.
The
government has also decided to spend Rs 4 crore to promote and
upgrade the hotels and motels operating under the two corporations.
There are 10 such hotels and motels in the state including Gangaur
of Jaipur, Sariska of Alwar and Mumal of Jaisalmer. The government
will form a panel of specialised architects to oversee the renovations
and redesigning of these properties.
The
government has also decided to decentralise its control over all
these properties. Arora feels that in order to compete with private
hotels, there is an urgent need to provide more facilities and
amenities to retain guests. The staff should also be given training
to absorb the latest technology and new trends. Chief minister
of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, has also appointed a high profile
tourist advisory board in the state, which will advise the government
on tourist promotions. Such initiatives are being taken for the
first time in the state and it is hoped will boost tourism in
Rajasthan.
