Infrastructure
Development at Pilgrimage Centres
|
Background
Rajasthan has been a land of many faiths and there are
important pilgrimage centres here for the Hindus, Joins
and, Muslims . For centuries, these have attracted visitors-
both royal and commoners- and have been centres of religion,
trade, culture, art and commerce.
|
Location
While every town has its major temples and shrines,
over the centuries, some have gained a following all
over the country and sometimes even outside the country.
These include pilgrimages to Nathdawara, Kankroli, Ranakpur,
Dilwara, Ramdeora, Salasar, Mahaveerji, Mehandi-pur-Balaji,
Kaila, Dargah Sharif(Ajmer), Osian (Jodhpur), Nakoda
(Barmer), Karni Mata Temple at Deshnok (Bikaner) and
Sanwariaji (Chittorgarh).

Incentives
While
there is a system of dharamshalas, basis eating palaces
and a system of organizing darshans, these pilgrim centres
could be developed more efficiently to provide a more
complete experience for pilgrims coming from outside
the region. This could include a network of a range
of hotels, restaurants , souvenir and religious art
and handicrafts, parking bays, shelters, retreats and
meditation centres.
